GENOA HISTORY
Genoa Cricket and Football Club is a football club based in Genoa, Italy.
It's the oldest Italian team, being founded in September 7, 1893 by a group of British citizens (among whom Mr C.A. Payton) and set up at the British Consulate in Genoa .
The first social colour was white, changed to white and blue in 1899 and then, since 1901, to the legendary Red and Blue like the British flag . The club currently play at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which has a seating capacity of 40,122.

The football activity actually started in 1896 when a ship's doctor joined Genoa and opened the club to Italian citizens as well (till then, only British members were allowed). This doctor was Mr James R. Spensley.
